On Thursday, September 7, 2017, the credit bureau, Equifax, announced a massive data breach. This incident has caused the exposure of 143 million Americans' sensitive, personal data.
The Credit Union does, as do most other financial institutions in the U.S., report credit usage data to all three credit bureaus. However, Equifax has not directly informed us if any of our members have been affected by this event. Rather, Equifax will be contacting affected individuals directly via regular mail.

And though Equifax does provide a tool to check whether or not you've been affected by the data breach, we do not recommend you use this service. The website it's setup on isn't as secure as it could be. We also do not recommend enrolling in Equifax's free ID monitoring service, as it forfeits your right to seek damages from the credit bureau.
